Last week Shore house attended Battleview Orchards. The members got to go visit the store that sold all kinds of stuff like apple cider donuts and apples. Then after, they went apple picking and pumpkin picking. It was very crowded, and there were lots of people at Battleview. Susan brought her dog Enzo with her, he was a little dog but he was not allowed in the orchards. We then went to a park and had turkey and cheese sandwiches and waters. At lunch Darren got to take a walk with Susan’s dog, Enzo. There was also conversation about the upcoming week, and visitors that were scheduled to come to the Clubhouse. Once lunch was finished everyone went home. It was a fabulous day at the Battleview Orchards and everyone can’t wait to do stuff like this in the future.
Shore house has been a great opportunity for me to meet new people. I have made a lot of friends here, like Ashley, Sherone and Bianca to name a few. I would have never meet these great people if I was just sitting at home playing video games. Aside from the Work Order Day, socializing is an important part of the model.
Last month we went to former board member Mary Jane’s house for a day on the water. I learned how to fish and members Ashley and Damion kayaked on the river. Mary Jane kindly served a delicious lunch. It was not only a fun day, but a learning experience as well. I learned the reason there were a lot of bees around was because they liked the smell of crabs and wanted to eat the crab shells on the dock. I also found out the reason insects become very aggressive during this time of the year is because it is harder for them to find food.
Mary Jane had a pool for the members to swim in. I didn’t swim, but other members enjoyed the pool. I thought it was beautiful that Mary Jane loves her family so much. She had lots of pictures of her family on the walls inside her guest house. She told us stories about her grandfather and what each of her family members were doing when the picture was taken.
It was a fantastic day at Mary Jane’s house and we were all very grateful for her kindness and generosity. We are very glad she will continue to be part of Shore House even after retiring from the board.
