Work Ordered Day
One of the key principles of the Clubhouse Model is providing “meaningful work.” Putting this principle into practice, Shore House operates a variety of programs to help members develop employment skills. The first step is participation in the Work Ordered Day’s work units, where members and staff work together to provide the clubhouse with its needed services.
Members plan meals, shop for groceries, prepare and serve lunch daily, and operate the meal bank. In the Snack Bar members stock and sell a variety of healthy snacks and beverages during the day.
The Clerical Unit is responsible for scheduling appointments, producing monthly financial reports, keeping track of attendance and maintaining the transportation schedule. This Unit also produces a monthly newsletter, updates Social Media and produces a daily newscast that is shown during the afternoon meeting.
Shore House hosts evening and weekend events for members to relax and interact socially. We celebrate birthdays once a month, go to outdoor concerts, the movies and apple picking to name a few. We also celebrate holidays on the actual day.
